Helimission has been operating a base in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, since February 1994. 
 

Madagascar is repeatedly hit by cyclones and floods. This was the case in 1994 when cyclone “Geralda” struck and we were asked to help. We made reconnaissance flights and flew 340 lattice boxes to repair the railroad, ensuring supplies reached the capital. Since then we have flown for several disasters caused by cyclones and other emergency situations.

Due to the poor infrastructure on the island, the helicopter is often the most efficient method of reaching villages to supply them with food, medicine, medical teams and much more.
